At the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the Adams School of Dentistry has been in operation since 1950. A dental hygienist is a licensed preventive oral health professional who provides educational, clinical and therapeutic services to the public through the promotion of oral health. Molecular approaches for oral disease analysis and the complexity of disease elements require advanced training in the discipline of oral and craniofacial biomedicine.
